In a comparison of 1,368 positive blood culture, vented Roche Septi-Chek (V-RSC) blood culture bottles is superior to the tryptic soy broth containing bottles of unvented (Difco) for the recovery of all the aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms. Anaerobic bacteria were recovered more often and earlier in unvented tryptic soy broth containing bottle. A separate comparison of 529 positive blood culture bottles was conducted to test the performance of the V-RSC with biphasic media vented from the brain heart infusion. Bottle V-RSC recovered significantly more isolates of Enterobacteriaceae and anaerobic bacteria than brain heart infusion medium vented biphasic. Bottle V-RSC is a reliable blood culture system for all aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms. Due to its suboptimal recovery of anaerobic bacteria, it is recommended that a bottle of V-RSC is used in combination with a vacuum blood culture bottles unvented.
Panmede, papain digest cow’s liver, added to brain heart infusion broth cysteine non-sporing increase anaerobic recovery from simulated blood cultures in which human blood is added to each broth. Brain heart infusion broth containing cysteine and backed Panmede best isolation of non-sporing first anaerobic incubation for 48 hours compared to four commercial media are tested in parallel. good recovery during the first 24 hours of anaerobic obtained with heart brain infusion broth equipped with cysteine and Panmede, chatty anaerobic thioglycollate broth and Brewer of the Southern Group of Thiol Laboratories but not other types of intermediate and Brewer thioglycollate media tested.
Penicillin-like drugs were found unstable in Schaedler broth in storage’S forzen (–20 degrees C). Chloramphenicol, clindamycin and tetracycline remain in the original potential for 45 days. There is no detectable antimicrobial decay was found in two formulations of include BHI broth. The antimicrobial potency is measured by the quality control organisms endpoint, bioassay and MIC changes were used in four clinical microbiology laboratory.
Short-term incubation of positive blood cultures in brain-heart infusion broth accelerate the identification of bacteria by matrix-assisted laser desorption / ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
OBJECTIVE
rapid identification of bacteria directly from positive blood culture (BC) with matrix-assisted laser desorption / ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) can be achieved either using MALDI Sepsityper kit (method of protein extraction) or after a period of short-step pre-cultivation on solid media. We developed a new method that involves short-term enrichment positive BCs in brain-heart infusion broth (BHI) before the MALDI-TOF MS analysis.
METHOD
Eighty-four BCs characterized as positive included in this study; are processed in parallel either directly using MALDI Sepsityper kit or follow short-term culture both in BHI or Columbia blood agar with 5% sheep blood (CBA).
RESULTS
bacterial species were identified in 91.6, 89.2 and 65.4% of cases after pre-cultivated for 4 hours in BHI, the CBA, or by using the MALDI Sepsityper kit, respectively. Overall, the average incubation time for the correct identification shorter when pre-culture performed in BHI; the mean time to Gram-negative rods in BHI was 78.2 minutes and 108.2 minutes in the CBA (P = 0.045), and the average time for Gram-positive cocci was 128.5 minutes and 169.6 minutes in BHI at CBA (P = 0.013).

CONCLUSION
Short-term enrichment of BCs in BHI accelerate the identification of a number of species of bacteria by MALDI-TOF MS. Further prospective study is needed to validate our method and measure the potential clinical impact in the management of bacterial infection in the bloodstream.
